ECOncrete® offers a suite of high performance environmentally sensitive concrete solutions that enhance the biological and ecological value of urban, coastal, and marine infrastructure while increasing their strength and durability. These solutions include bio-enhancing concrete additives, science based designed forms and form liners, applied to precast or cast-on-site ECOncrete® elements. ECOncrete®’s innovative solutions reduce the ecological footprint of ports, marinas, coastal protections schemes, urban waterfront projects, and offshore infrastructure while adding to their structural integrity. Products for offshore infrastructure include ecological concrete marine mattresses for armoring cabling networks, as well as concrete armor units for scour protection around the base of wind turbines.
Certifications
- All ECOncrete admixtures comply with international standards required for concrete mixing. ECOncrete's bio-enhancing admixture complies with Type S (Specific Performance) of ASTM C494, as well as UK, EU (SI 89 and the EN 934- 1 2008 and EN 934-2: 2009 + A1: 2012), and Australian (Special purpose admixture, Section 3 and 4 of AS 1478.1-2000 (R2018)) standards for general and workability concrete admixtures.
Previous Experience
ECOncrete's marine mattresses have been included in the "Nature-Inclusive Design: a catalogue for offshore wind infrastructure" developed by The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality in the Netherlands. ECOncrete samples have also been included in a study performed by VanOord in the North Sea that compared various substrates for biological recruitment with ECOncrete proving to be an optimal material for supporting marine habitats. Beyond which, although not related directly to offshore wind, ECOncrete's marine mattresses were part of a full scale deployment in Long Island Sound, NYC for protecting offshore utility cables.
