- Utilizing its own crews and fleet of specialized equipment and roster of certified splicers, Haugland’s Offshore Tower Teams can do all inner-array cable terminations, combining, and interconnecting at the offshore substation
- Haugland Energy can self-perform full EPC of the onshore substation & electrical portion of the offshore substation stepping up MV to HV, transitioning to Export Cable Vessel
- Eastern Utilities and Grace Industries can provide directional drilling services from onshore to offshore, grab and pull the export cable, construct the duct bank and deliver to the onshore substation
- Haugland Energy is the best-in-class self perform EPC of onshore substations in the Northeast, providing all testing and commission support with local utilities
Previous Experience
In 2016 Haugland Energy the power cable terminations and 48 fiber cable, performing 432 fiber terminations, 144 fiber joints, 27 power terminations and 9 power cable joints on both the mainland of Scarborough Beach, RI and on the turbine platforms. Power cable testing, VLF withstand, insulation resistance, TDR trace and fiber optic testing was also completed by Haugland Energy.
In 2021 we completed the following work at Block Island:
- Provided Setup and security for the entire site
- Manhole preparation (installation of cable racks, ground ring, armor clamping, etc.) in new manhole (manhole # 3).
- Pull in new submarine cable from the barge to new manhole (manhole # 3) through HDD conduit.- Install supplied land power cable and land fiber optic cable between the existing manhole (manhole # 1) and the new manhole (manhole # 3) (approx. 600’).
- Splice land power cable to submarine cable (transition splice) (manhole # 3)
- Splice land fiber optic cable to submarine fiber optic cable (transition splice) (manhole # 3)
- Splice land power cable in existing manhole (manhole # 1)
- Splice land fiber optic cable in existing manhole (manhole # 1)
- Final electrical testing
- OTDR test for fiber optic
- Located, unburied, and removed the existing land cable on Crescent Beach on Block Island
